SONG, STORY & DANCE
Age 2 – 4 Alternate Sundays 10 – 10:50 a.m.
Age 5 – 7 Alternate Sundays 11 – 12 noon
These classes combine creative movement, storytelling, and singing. We focus on making up our own movement, sometimes inspired by animals, stories, and songs. We have fun making big group dances, playing instruments, and imagining we’re mermaids, shooting stars, snowflakes, and dolphins. We dance barefoot, in comfortable clothing.
We will meet on 10 alternate Sundays: Feb 5, 19, March 4, 18, April 1, 15, 29, May 13, 27, June 10
$10 per class, or $90 for 10 class series.

Beginners Level 1: Belly Dance Fundamentals

The class is designed to teach basic belly dance posture and movements through aligning gracefully with the serpentine, fluid qualities of the spine. We tune in to the belly and move from a womb-centered place explore rhythmic, dynamic and sensual movements. We will practice exercises and drills to enhance strength, tone, and flexibility to then enhance our feelings of health, well-being and vitality.
Intermediate Level 2: American Tribal Style (ATS)
Wednesdays 8:00 pm – 9:15 pm
January 4th – February 29th
Inspired by the serpentine nature of the spine, we will delve into some basic belly dance movements and layering techniques. We will do this with loving compassion to body, engaging the dance as a tool to attain a heightened sense of well-being. We will also practice learning the cues of American Tribal Style (ATS), an tribal improvisational belly dance style developed by Carolena Nericcio of Fat Chance Belly Dance. This class will have a performance element, but not requirement. Please feel free to join even if you have no desire to perform. The practice of simply learning the improv cues to be able to freely dance in a unified way with other woman is rewarding in and of itself.
